SponsorJobs

Free and open source. For international students in the US.

Find employers that sponsor, and send a resume that fits the job.

SponsorJobs runs on your own computer. It finds jobs at employers with real sponsorship records, rewrites your resume for each one without breaking the one-page layout, drafts the cover letter, and helps you practise the interview.

Linux and Intel Macs: run it from source. You will also need LaTeX and an AI key. How to install.

The shared job list is refreshed through the day from public job boards.

What it does

Finds jobs at employers that sponsor

Pulls postings from official public job boards. Each employer is tagged with its visa record from public US government data: H-1B, green card (PERM), E-Verify for STEM OPT, and cap-exempt status.

Flags "no sponsorship" postings

Postings that say they will not sponsor are marked before you spend time on them.

Tailors your resume to each job, on one page

Rewords your real experience toward the job's own language, keeps the page from overflowing, and shows which of the job's keywords you cover and which you miss. It never adds a skill to a role where you did not use it.

Drafts the cover letter

And answers to screening questions, written from your own history, for you to edit.

Interview practice

A recorded, scored first-round screen, then a simulated interviewer that asks questions from the actual job description.

Assisted apply

Fills application forms for you to review. You click submit. It never automates LinkedIn and never tries to get around a site's bot protection.

How to install

Two things first. SponsorJobs typesets your resume with LaTeX, so LaTeX must be installed. And it needs an AI key from Anthropic (recommended) or OpenAI; the first-run setup asks for it and keeps it on your computer.

macOS (Apple Silicon)

  1. Install LaTeX. In Terminal: brew install --cask mactex-no-gui
  2. Download the .dmg, open it, and drag SponsorJobs to Applications.
  3. On first open, macOS will say it cannot verify the developer. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Once.

The app is not yet signed with an Apple Developer certificate, which is why macOS asks.

Windows

  1. Install LaTeX: MiKTeX. Let it install missing packages on the fly.
  2. Download SponsorJobs-Setup.exe and run it.
  3. Windows SmartScreen may warn that the publisher is unknown. Click More info, then Run anyway.

The installer is not yet code-signed, which is why SmartScreen asks.

Linux, Intel Macs, or just prefer source: see the README.
